Vodafone Romania is expanding its portfolio of digitalization solutions for businesses with a suite of tools dedicated to farmers. These integrate Internet of Things (IoT) technologies and are based on sensors that ensure the collection and management of essential crop data, automation of operations, monitoring of various parameters, and the generation of analyses and forecasts that enable higher efficiency and productivity in agriculture.
“Agriculture is one of the sectors that can benefit enormously from the adoption of digital technologies and solutions. Romania is still at an early stage in this regard, but we are seeing growing openness and interest among farmers who understand that precision agriculture, based on IoT technologies and data analysis, represents the future of farming,” said Mihnea Rădulescu, Director of the Enterprise Business Unit at Vodafone Romania.
The solutions in Vodafone’s portfolio are aimed at farmers with various types of crops — large-scale crops (cereals, oilseeds), vegetable crops, or orchards — cultivated both in open fields and in greenhouses. The solutions are scalable and configurable, adapted to the needs of each farmer regardless of farm size or crop type.
In addition, by connecting to Vodafone’s nationwide NarrowBand–IoT (NB-IoT) network, the agricultural solutions enable communication between equipment and sensors anywhere in the country, thus meeting the needs of farmers who have crops even in remote areas without access to electricity.
